About Us
The Alliance of Queer and Ally Students is an organization devoted to advocating for policies that benefit the LBGT community at MSU. Some of these include the Preferred Name Policy and Gender Neutral/Flexible Housing. Other policies in progress are Gender Neutral Bathrooms and Trans Inclusive Student Health Care.
Alliance is one of the oldest LBGT organizations in Michigan and began in 1972 as the Gay Liberation Movement (GLM). The GLM contributed to the passage of the first LBGT anti-discrimination ordinance in U.S. history by advocating to the city council of East Lansing. Alliance continues to work for the improvement of the LBGT community and services in East Lansing and MSU.
We are located in the LBGT Resource Center in room 302 of the Student Services Building.
Our Eboard meetings are open to the public. Anyone is welcome to attend and speak, listen, voice concerns, or ask questions. Meeting dates and times are TBD.
